Community Hunger - Community Service Project
Supplying food for people in need and around our Roswell Community area
Goal:
Roswell Rotary Hunger Project goal for the 2006 -2007 was to supply food for the people in need and around our Roswell Community area.
Results:
Roswell Rotarians helped pick up over 20 tons of food from 22 schools and businesses to support the North Fulton Charities Thanksgiving food drive. On Saturday, November 18th the food was sorted and bagged. On Monday Nov. 20th the food was distributed to over a thousand families in our area and the North Fulton area. Two thousand bags of food, plus turkeys and gifts cards were handed out that Thanksgiving week. Roswell Rotary member Keller Torrey coordinated the food drive. Other Rotarians that helped through out the drive were, Jeff Hamling, Ron Redner, Craig Simons, Matt Carter, Harry Geisinger, Harry McCleary, Jeff Bridges, Jerry Gresham, Dan Lieblich, Jack Wyche, Stan Moses, John Peverill, Tim McCollum and Richard Spencer. Keller Torrey said she felt blessed to be part of a club that truly lives up to the motto "Service Above Self."
