AIDS Awareness Program - Community Service Project

District 6900 Aids Awareness

This is the eleventh year that Rotary District 6900 in alliance with AID Atlanta is offering AIDS Awareness and Education programs to Georgia’s Middle and High School Students. This program introduces HIV-infected young adults to the teens and provides them with a realistic, frank and powerful discussion about HIV contraction and how it has affected these people’s lives. This is an abstinence based program and does not promote “safe sex.” It is meant to get the attention of the teens to help them realize that HIV/AIDS can happen to them.

This year Robin Vance has served on the Aids Awareness District Committee as Coordinator for Fulton County, scheduling programs for the clubs in North Fulton. Robin’s job is to be liaison between the clubs, the middle and high schools, and Aid Atlanta. Robin sends materials to the head PE & Health teacher in each of the schools and to the presidents of each of the clubs, then helps to set up the programs.
