2007 Habitat For Humanity
Roswell Rotary maintains close ties with Habitat for Humanity. Charles Cameron serves on the North Metro Board of directors for habitat and serves as our liaison to Habitat. Additionally, we have added Randy Redner to our club membership during this year. Randy is the new executive director of the North Metro Habitat office. Working with the North Metro Rotary Council, the member Clubs contributed $20,000 toward a new habitat house located on Zion Circle in Roswell. On March 10th, 20 members of the Roswell club joined with volunteers from Wachovia Bank and completed the roofing and siding for this new home.
Goal:
The Roswell Rotary 2006 -20007 goal for Habitat for Humanity is to participate in building a Habitat for Humanity home.
Results:
Roswell Rotary identified Habitat for Humanity as one of the organizations that we wanted to do a community cooperative project with this year. This was a cooperative project because several local Rotary club, through the North Fulton Rotary Council, and several of the local high schools are working together to build a Habitat home. The Roswell Rotary Club will be working on 2006 home site, and will be providing water and lunch for all the workers that day. Our club will have 10 to 15 Roswell Rotarians working on that day.
On the broader scale, there are many Rotarians from our Roswell Club who make a difference in Habitat North Fulton on a regular basis. Tim McCollum, is the Habitat North Fulton Executive Director. Tom Campbell has closed every build since the North Fulton office’s inception. Malone Dodson and Don Howard are on the Habitat North Fulton advisory board. Pam Hodgson is on the Board of Directors. Charlie Cameron has designed every North Fulton Habitat home. Andrew Dalby does the roofing for free. Don Rolader has helped with zoning issues. Ron Redner’s company, Render Ad, has provided hundreds of T-shirts and other specialty items over the years.
