ROSWELL -- Friday night, May 9, hundreds of volunteers will gather at Centennial High School to raise money for research and honor cancer survivors.
Leading the organizing efforts are Roswell Rotary and North Fulton Regional Hospital. Their goal is to top last year’s contributions of $125,000. But as serious as the goals are, it is a fun event also. This year at CHS, the theme is “A Rock ‘n’ Roll Relay,” with more than 40 teams (up from 29 last year) from local churches, schools and businesses.
There are kid and adult events planned for all night including a battle of the bands. The money raised supports programs in the city in addition to funding cancer research.
“This is a grassroots effort that just keeps growing and growing,” said Roswell Rotarian Ron Redner. “It’s becoming massive. Our goal is nothing less than to beat cancer in our lifetime.
